Beliefs

The following are some basic beliefs of Risen Church.
A full doctrinal statement can be requested of the church.

The Scriptures

The Bible was written by men, inspired by God, and is God’s way of revealing Himself to humans. It is without error and therefore is totally true and trustworthy.

GOD

There is only one living and true God. He is an intelligent, spiritual, and personal Being. God is all powerful and all knowing about all things—past, present, and future—including the future decisions of His free creatures. He is one in nature and three in person—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
  • God the Father
God as Father is all powerful, all knowing, all loving, and all wise. God is Father in truth to those who become children of God through faith in Jesus Christ..
  • God the Son
Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God and was conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin, Mary. Jesus took upon Himself human nature. In His death on the cross He made a way by which people can have their sins removed. He was physically raised from the dead. He ascended into heaven where He is the One Mediator, fully God, fully man..
  • God the Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God, fully divine. Through illumination He enables men to understand truth. He calls men to the Savior, and effects regeneration. At the moment of regeneration He baptizes every believer into the Body of Christ. His presence in the Christian is the guarantee that the believer will reach heaven.

HUMANS

Humans are the special creation of God, made in His own image. He created them male and female. The gift of gender is thus part of the goodness of God’s creation. By free choice Adam & Eve sinned against God and brought sin into the human race. Only God can bring humans into a right relationship with Him.

Salvation

Salvation is given freely to all who receive Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. There is no salvation apart from Jesus Christ. In other words, the only way anyone can get to heaven is by putting their faith and trust in Jesus Christ.

The Church

A New Testament church is a local congregation of people who have put their faith and trust in Jesus Christ. They are governed by Christ’s commands, exercising the gifts, rights, and privileges invested in them by the Bible, and seeking to give the gospel to all people.

Baptism and the Lord’s Supper

Christian baptism is the immersion of a believer in water in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. It is an act of obedience symbolizing the believer’s faith in a crucified, buried, and risen Savior.
The Lord’s Supper is a symbolic act of obedience where members of the church, through partaking of the bread and the fruit of the vine, memorialize the death of the Jesus and anticipate His second coming.

Evangelism and Missions

It is the duty ad privilege of every Christian to win the lost to Christ by verbal witness and a Christian lifestyle.
